RIO RANCHO, N.M.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In recent weeks, two traditional players in the avionics merchant board market have decreased their product offering or US manufacturing presence. AIT announced an end to their US manufacturing and distribution agreement with AIM-USA/AIM GmbH. AIM-USA also announced that main design and manufacturing for US sales will be based in Germany. In 2006 GE acquired SBS Technologies and Condor Engineering, and recently, GE Intelligent Platforms lists (on their public web site) numerous SBS ASF/ABI 1553 products and Condor Engineering 1553 and ARINC cards as “Not Recommended” or “Discontinued”. These products had a large deployed base and these changes may leave a void for customers with avionics test, simulation and embedded applications.
Alta Data Technologies, a Rio Rancho, NM, USA based company has announced a series of product offerings that can help ease the transition from older legacy offerings to next generation interface cards. Alta has developed the industry’s newest avionics products, all based on modular 32-bit FPGA architectures (AltaCoreTM) and structured ISO software models. Alta designs deploy flexible, portable technologies that simplify application development, maximize cross platform portability and reduce obsolescence risks. In most cases, an Alta avionics implementation can be implemented or ported in just a couple of days, and legacy applications often have a reduced/simplified code base. Alta’s products boast the only COTS offering that can both execute and pass the SAE AS4111 5.2 Protocol Validation Tests – A huge step forward for guaranteed network compliance.
“We have assisted with hundreds of development projects with our customers, and in many cases, applications are developed or ported in a matter of hours or only a couple days. The AltaAPI™ software development tools are designed in a proper, layered architecture that abstracts complex network hardware registers and data structures; this provides the customer a reliable, structured application that maximize cross platform compatibility,” explains Rich Wade, CTO of Alta.
“As other avionics COTS vendors shift their product positions or US based presence, Alta is growing and investing in the market to provide the latest technology and a solid, long term support for our customers. Alta has the most experienced design and management team that are bringing innovative products and services to the industry. We are proud to offer the most advanced products for avionics test, simulation, rugged deployed or SAE AS 4111/4112 5.2 validation,” states Harry Wild, VP of Sales for Alta.
