eNet-A429™ Revolutionizes ARINC Ethernet Connectivity
Rio Rancho, NM USA (October 11, 2012) – Alta Data Technologies (Alta) announces the release of an innovative new network appliance that provides real-time ARINC to Ethernet connectivity: eNet-A429. For the first time in the avionics industry, Alta has designed a real-time FPGA “thin-server” UDP technology to provide direct packet access for ARINC-429/575/573/717 interfaces with automatic ARINC receive channel to Ethernet bridging. Alta’s advanced, modular software package, AltaAPI™, provides complete portability between applications written for PCI/PCI Express based products and eNet-A429, the ultimate in code reuse and system design flexibility.
Besides providing up to eight ARINC channels via Ethernet connections, the raw electrical signals on the first two receive channels can be captured for protocol and electrical troubleshooting (a built in mini O-scope!).
“Our new eNet-A429 product represents true innovation and flexibility for customer’s avionics designs. Almost every avionics or communication system implements Ethernet LANs, and now it is easy to add ARINC connectivity to their networks. The appliance is very small (13.5×3.7x4cm), light weight (200 grams) and is low power 5-30V (e.g. USB power). eNet-A429’s low-cost, rugged design is ideal for networked lab or vehicle systems,” states Harry Wild, Vice President of Sales for Alta.
Jake Haddock, Alta CTO, adds “We designed our advanced AltaCore™ protocol engine with a real-time, thin-sever UDP front-end, and then added an auto-bridging mode for sniffing ARINC interfaces. The customer has the option to control eNet-A429 like a traditional interface card and simultaneously have ARINC label packets auto transmitted on the LAN so that any computer can monitor data. eNet-A429 can utilize fast auto-boot images for simple UDP socket access making it virtually OS/machine independent.”
